Welcome to the Megalithic Temples of the Maltese Islands. The information on this site was researched and created by 84, grade 8, eleven year old students of San Andrea Senior School.
After taking a field trip to the major Megalithic Temple sites in Malta, the students decided it was important to inform others of the significance of the rich Pre-History of the Maltese Islands which contain the earliest freestanding temples in the world. Since the Maltese Islands are situated approximately in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, our strategically-positioned islands were colonized by all major powers in the Mediterranean throughout its rich history; from the Neolithic People to the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, French and the British; until we got our independence in 1964.

Ater surfing the site you can test your knowledge by printing the available worksheets & filling them in. The worksheets are the same as those worked by the students as their homework.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the Megalithic Temples of the Maltese Islands from the point of view of us, Young Historians !
