Juan D'Omedes : 1536-1553
The Grandmasters of the Order of St.John in Malta Philippe Villiers De L'Isle Adam Pietro Del Ponte Didier De Saint Jaille Claude De La Sengle Jean Parisot De La Vallette Alof De Wignacourt Martin De Redin Antonio Manoel De Vilhena Ferdinand Von Hompesch		On 20th October 1536, an Aragonese, Juan D'Omedes was elected Grandmaster. He imposed new taxes and reduced salaries. The leaders of the people again appealed to the Emperor against the bad government of the Grandmaster. After seventeen years of miscalculation and misconduct, Grandmaster D'Omedes died on 6th September 1553. He was also buried in the chapel of Fort St. Angelo.
