This project, brought about by the dreams, commitment and contributions of the San Andrea School Community has seen its launch on the 11th December 2016. This state-ofthe-art building will be serving as a hub for sports activities, as well as a much¬needed space for the expressive arts.
The facilities will enhance the sports department’s activities through the practice of basketball, futsal, handball, badminton and volleyball, while offering the possibility to several sports associations to rent it for their specific use.
The Multipurpose Hall has also been fully equipped to handle drama productions, musical theatre performances, dance routines, live-music performances and mimes. It features an 85kVA generator-powered Air¬Conditioning system, a wooden flooring stage, black soft masking (including canopy), LED stage lighting, motorised truss systems, a revolving stage (the only permanent one installed on the island) and will also be featuring a light-cue system (the only one installed in any local performing space). The changing rooms feature a 5-metre floortoceiling mirror, enabling the space to doubleup as a rehearsal room. The stage was also constructed with a second tier providing an onstage balcony big enough for an ensemble, band, orchestra or choir. There is also ample space for an ASM to operate out-of the way of actors and communicate with the rest of the tech crew via talkbacks. An infra-red CCTV stage camera system is envisaged to be installed in the very near future to provide a cutting edge experience for Stage Management.
