San Andrea Skiing Trip

Last December, Mr Kevin Zammit, who is one of the P.E. teachers at our school, together withMr Charles Zammit, a qualified skiing instructor, organised a school skiing-trip to the wonderful location of Valle D’Aosta in northern Italy. This event took place just before the last Christmas Holidays and was done in collaboration with Interski, which is a British run organisation specialising in school skiing trips.

On the afternoon of Sunday 15th December, the group of 51 students, teachers, and parents met at Malta International Airport. We flew to Torino and after a 2 hour flight and a 3 hour coach ride we finally arrived at the hotel late at night.

During the first morning of the holiday, students were kitted-out with all the necessary skiing equipment. However, once we got into the gondola and made our way up the mountain, we were able to admire the beautiful panoramic view and the snow capped mountains! Once we arrived on the mountain-top we formed different groups and were greeted by our skiing instructors. This was to be the hardest day for the beginners since they spent more time falling then actually skiing! But obviously it is all part of the fun learning process. At lunch timewe had some delicious foodat the Yeti bar on the mountain, followed by 3 more hours of skiing. We did this throughout the holiday.
Every evening we had different activities planned for us. On the first night we went out for some delicious log-oven baked pizza. The second night was quiz night. On Wednesday they organised a fun disco for us and we got to dance and mingle with the other British students. The next evening we went ice-skating. On Friday we had the presentation night during which all of the instructors came to the hotel present us with our certificates. Saturday was our last skiing day and we spent the evening exploring the town centre andenjoying the Christmas atmosphere of the winter wonderland. On Sunday morning we packed our bags before heading to different Christmas markets, which seemed coming straight out of a postcard and selling anything from Christmas decorations to warm cinnamon buns.

This was by far one of the most fun holidays ever! We definitely can’t wait for the next one!
